Dijon the city, not the mustard (22)
We spent four days in Dijon, a mid-sized French city, regrouping and planning for the remainder of our time in Europe. We didn't get a whole lot accomplished, but we enjoyed Dijon! -
Beautiful Beaune (15)
Celebrating Jonathan's birthday with Vanessa and a group of their friends in this spectacular little town. Full of wine and the richest-of-rich French food, we were pleased as (red wine) punch to be there. -
The heart of Paris (16)
Ahhh…Paris (pronounce that pah-REE in your head when you’re reading this). There are many things to love about Paris but what I chose to love most is that I didn't love it all that much. -
Le Mt. St. Michel (10)
One of the few places that Whitney really, really, really wanted to see on this trip, and she was still too ill to enjoy it. Oh well; John had a great time! -
Adventures in Arromanches (9)
The bad dinner in Arromanches, the hospital visit in Bayeaux, and a big ole cow. -
WWII memorial, Normandy beaches (9)
In Caen, we visited the War Memorial, an museum thoroughly covering the timeline of the War. We stayed in Arromanches, site of the Gold Beach where the British Army invaded. Then, visited Omaha Beach where the U.S. invaded, and spent time at the U.S. Cemetery. A very moving day -
Beauvais and Rouen (14)
Landed in France in the small town of Beauvais, which boasted nothing but a nasty motel with odd toilet tissue and a creepy vibe. Rouen was adorable, and the Joan of Arc history was extra cool.
