The train ride offered gorgeous views of snowy landscapes

In front of the apartment
A few steps in front of the apartment is the Salzach River, which slices through Salzburg, generally separating the old-fashioned storybook-like south end and the more modern, typically European north end of town

Mirabell Gardens
The Mirabell Palace and Gardens. The former palace now houses government offices. The gardens are where the von Trapp children sang "Do-Re-Mi" in The Sound of Music.

Grocery shopping

Wieners1
The meats section of the grocery store consisted of a few cuts of beef, a chicken for roasting, and about 1,000 wieners

Wieners2
Really, more weiners than I've ever seen

And more!

John at Augustiner
John found an Augustiner beerhall in Salzburg (which wasn't quite as crowded as the one in Munich).
