John & Whitney, - I am enjoying your trip as much as you are. I can remember visiting the castle in Edinburgh - Aunt Mary, her son Willie and wife Christine came to visit us and took us out for dinner. I remember walking in the park under the castle and thinking how beautiful it was in the Spring.
As you know, we just came back from Normandy, Mt. St. Michel and Rouen. Were you in the hospital in Bayeaux? Glad to hear you are well now. We visited the Loire Valley and all the chateaux. Also, we went to Giverny - Monet's home and gardens. The Muse D'Orsey was geat.Looking forward to the next posting. Have fun.

A bit disappointed with the description of Whitney's stomach flu, and I quote, "kicking her (expletive deleted) from here to Jupiter". I thought this was a family site? Or have the floodgates opened for more bawdy language? Let us know.

JB- dont forget to drink Talisker! Also, rumour at the CEU is that you are actually searching the world for more dirt on Mazzolli for his file.

Wow! John, your extended clan sounds amazing. What great people! Sounds like Donegal is not living up to it's meaning, "the fort of the foreigners". The good people of Donegal are treating you like you've been there a lifetime!

Love the stories. Please keep them coming! Only problem with this site is the lack of work I'm getting done. Oh well, it's a sunny and beautiful lovely Friday afternoon here in California!

Love, Lex

John & Whitney,

Good stuff. Keep this site going--it's a journal that you two will keep forever. In my travels I always started out writing feverishly and then it tapered off when the adventures took control. What I would give for some of the days/trips/dialogue that is lost to history! Keep it up, this is something you will always treasure.

In the meantime, hoist a proper pint skyward in my not-so-good name on the better side of the Atlantic.

I've enjoyed the entries and photos so much that I have decided to share them with all my classes every day. I will have them use your exploits as starting points for their own journal entries. Keep up the great descriptions and colorful prose....Whitney.

That said, please proofread before posting.

Miss youse.

Thanks for the updates on your exciting journey. I especially liked the picture of Whitney holding the leaf from a London Plane tree (Platanus × acerifolia), a close relative of the American Sycamore. The tree is very tolerant of atmospheric pollution and root compaction, and for this reason it is a popular urban roadside tree. As you must know, the leaf of the London Plane is the symbol for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and is prominently displayed on city signs and buildings throughout the public parks. Look for it when you get home. I can’t wait to hear about the trees you see in Ireland. I never thought that I would see…

I think I won the pool on who would drop the first "Bath" joke (no pun intended). Be sure to take some time in Edinburgh and visit the castle, peek in at the chapel up on the hill (forgot the name but it is about the size of your apartment). Take the time to get to the cemetery for a stroll and a fine meal (and wine) at The Witchery. Tell them The sent you and it may just get you a little extra heart in your haggis.

Much Ado in four days. Yikes.

Hi there from Gilroy. Alexis, Steve and Riley came down today -- Alexis and Steve have Ariana's crazy Halloween party tonight. Riley's here helping Granddad with the dogs and then he and I have a craft project. Alexis went in full costume as a beautiful witch, while Steve looked great as the Angel of Death. Scared Riley at first! Judson, Carrie, Jacey and Carson left for Yosemite today for a quick camping trip in the beautiful autumn weather -- it's been chilly at night, down to around 45, but then beautiful and crisp in the day, reaching 72 by the afternoon. We all miss you, but love reading about your adventures. Kisses to all....xoxo, Mom.

Our weekend in Newport and Mystic is NOT lame! But it is rainy, warm and humid. Great fun with Feather. Lost all our money at Mohegan Sun! Say hi to the Queen for me. Love P-Diggle.

Love the writing, love the pics. You guys are a riot. Gee whiz, your trip makes my weekend in Mystic and Newport seem kinda lame. Hope you are having an awesome time. Lots of people from this side of the atlantic are in London for the Giants game on Sunday. Go Big Blue!

Miss you - I am going to keep telling you that.
